How to succeed in business

Setting up a business can be something that most people will only ever dream about, actually putting it into action is something that few people will ever do, maybe fear holds them back but for the most part they just don't think they can succeed, well massive success in business comes at a cost, if you are not willing to sacrifice and do everything that it takes to become a business success and to learn how to run a business then you will be bankrupt within a year, that may sound like an alarming prospect but it's true for most people.

The problem I see with most business owners is that they are very ego driven, they want people to know they are in business but never learn how to sell a product and this is the fundamental aspect of a business, you need to be your leading salesman at least in the first few years, if you haven't taken the time to learn how to sell your product then how are you going to hire and teach others to do it?

I find another mistake that people make is going into a business as a hobby, they really enjoy doing this task so they think it will be a great idea to go into business and sell their skills but unfortunately it quickly becomes like a job and they really hate getting up every day to do it, what was fun now makes them miserable, they set up a business to escape their jobs and now they have a one that they can't get away from, they also have no idea how to make lots of money doing it and as a result they never quite get into "business mode".

Most people are simply not cut out to run a business, that is the harsh but sad truth, the only goal of a business is to generate revenue and you do that by selling something that people want, it's such as a simple concept but most people still ignore this advice, if you are not willing to sell the market what it wants then you shouldn't be in business, this isn't a hobby and you need to start selling things in order to make money, it doesn't matter if you don't think the product is up to scratch, what really matters is that the customers have paid you money for something that they asked for.
